The City of Oldsmar water is much softer than water that was previously purchased from Pinellas County. Hardness levels range between 30-40 milligrams per liter (mg/L) or parts per million (ppm). This is equivalent to 3-4 grains per gallon.

Having a water softener is a personal preference and is up to the individual. You may need to adjust your water softener to the current hardness levels.
The city tests for lead and copper at residences in the distribution system, as mandated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Lead and copper test results have been historically low for Oldsmar, and, as such, the FDEP and EPA have granted reduced monitoring for our system. Information on lead in drinking water, testing methods, and steps you can take to minimize exposure are available at https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/basic-information-about-lead-drinking-water.
