seal newsflash

Oldsmar Council Member Dan Saracki was recently appointed Chairman of the Florida League of Cities (FLC) Municipal Administrative Committee by their First Vice President Isaac Salver, Councilman, Town of Bay Harbor Islands.  Appointments are typically a one-year commitment and involve developing the FLC’s Legislative Action Agenda which addresses priority issues that are most likely to affect daily municipal governance and local decision making during the upcoming legislative session.

“Municipal officials are the driving force behind the League’s legislative success.  In addition to developing legislative priorities, policy committee members provide us with a better understanding of real-work implications of proposed legislation,” said Salver.  “We appreciate their willingness to serve, as there is a significant commitment of time and effort that goes into identifying legislative priorities for the membership to adopt.”

The committee, consisting of 69 elected officials and representatives from across Florida, is charged with recommending one legislative priority for consideration and up to three “policy positions” on other timely and relevant issues.  If adopted by the FLC general membership, these annual policy positions may be published and communicated to legislators and others as appropriate.

“This appointment is very humbling to me,” stated Council Member Saracki.  “I am extremely honored to lead this important committee and work with other committee members so that together we can create a policy direction for the Florida League of Cities’ legislative efforts during the 2020 session.”

Oldsmar Mayor Eric Seidel reflected on this outstanding recognition of Council Member Saracki’s dedication and continuous support of the FLC and their many initiatives.  “Dan’s passion for spearheading legislative support for collaborative local and state issues is commendable. “
