American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid

Heartsaver First Aid is a 3-hour course for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. It is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the 1st few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrive. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies. The course cost is $25 per person.

City of Oldsmar Fire Rescue Babysitting Safety

This 4-hour training program stresses the priority to keep you and the children you care for safe. Babysitting is not just "watching" the children, but being responsible for their safety and well being. When you are caring for a child, you are taking care of the family’s most prized possession. Everything in their home and your own home can be replaced, except for a child. This course is for young people providing babysitting and child care services. Oldsmar Fire Rescue instructors use in-house program materials to deliver the training. Each student is provided with course materials and will receive a Fire Department certificate upon successful completion of the post-course examination. The cost for this course is $15 per person.

Fire Extinguisher Hands-On Training

This 1-1/2 hour training course teaches students the proper selection and use of various portable fire extinguishers. The course is available to citizens or business employees and can be done at the fire station or at an outside location. The course involves some classroom instruction and hands-on use of fire extinguishers utilizing a propane gas-fed "live fire" fire extinguisher training simulator. Oldsmar Fire Rescue fire prevention personnel will provide the instruction. At this time, there is no charge for this training.
