Child Car Seat Safety Check

Oldsmar Fire Rescue is pleased to offer the inspection of and/or installation instruction for child car safety seats. This service is an important part of our mission to reduce and prevent injuries to our residents. Oldsmar's National Child Passenger Safety Board certified car safety seat technicians will inspect your existing car safety seat installation and make recommendations for changes if necessary. They will also coach and assist residents in the installation of a new car safety seat provided by the car owner.

The Fire Department does not supply car safety seats but does provide the minor supplies necessary to ensure a good car safety seat installation. During the inspection/installation process, if the technician feels that the seat is unsafe he/she will halt the process and inform the owner of any problems found.

How to Schedule an Appointment

We offer this program BY APPOINTMENT ONLY to perform the car safety seat inspections, but please call 813-749-1200 to schedule, thus ensuring a technician will be available. Please remember that Oldsmar's technicians are firefighters that have volunteered to accept this responsibility and are still subject to responding to emergencies or completing training requirements.
