Boards & Committees
Boards and committees in a local government are essential components of the democratic process. They serve as advisory bodies, providing expertise, diverse perspectives, and community input on specific areas of governance. These entities are comprised of volunteers who contribute their time, knowledge, and skills to assist in decision-making and policy development.
The importance of boards and committees lies in their ability to offer specialized knowledge and insights that may not be readily available to elected officials or municipal staff. They provide a forum for public participation and ensure that the voices and interests of various stakeholders within the community are represented. By involving citizens in the decision-making process, boards, and committees help foster transparency, accountability, and legitimacy in local governance. The City of Oldsmar has various boards and committees that play a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the community.
